Foods for Healing Diabetes
Cucumber ? contain phytochemical that improve the function of insulin. This helps balance blood sugar and improve energy. Must be organic and blended since all the phytochemicals are in the skin. Regular cucumbers have wax on them and are full of pesticides. Recommend 4 a day
Spring Onions ? rich in chromium, a trace mineral that helps cells respond to insulin. In addition the Allylpropyldisulfide found in onions lowers blood sugar by increasing the amount of free insulin available. Use spring onion with green tops.
Cumin Seeds ? improve function of insulin in system. Use in cooking or making smoothies
Cinnamon Powder ? helps the body to better effectively metabolize carbohydrates and improve energy levels after a meal. Useful in cooking and smoothies. Carry some in your purse and take after meals if eating out.
Swiss Chard ? Inside the stem of the colored Swiss Chard are many unique phytochemicals that contain insulin like substances. The molecular structure of these phytochemicals are nearly identical to that of the insulin produced by the body and produces the same effect ? allowing glucose into the cell wall thereby lowering blood sugar. High in vitamin K, so if on blood thinners talk to your doctor before adding to diet. 10 leaves daily. Use 2 to 3 large leaves in Smoothie and the rest cut up in Salads
Bitter Melon ? More powerful than Swiss Chard contains the highest amount of Insulin Like Substance. Available in most oriental grocery stores (very inexpensive). But as the name suggest, not the tastiest. Also I would recommend the tea (bitter gourd).
Seven Primary Herbs of our Food Healing System
Garlic ? Helps lower blood pressure and boost immune system (should always be eaten with ginger)
Ginger Root ? anti inflammatory use in smoothies and add a little to every meal
Cilantro ? Master of Chelation ? use daily to help detoxify heavy metals especially lead and mercury
Turmeric ? Anti-inflammatory ?pain fighting? can be as effective as Motrin
Rosemary ? helps lower blood pressure and enhances poor blood circulation. Rosmarinic acid ? beneficial for Asthma and Breathing and excellent for people with Anxiety and Depression (do not use frequently if you have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism)
Basil ? effective for digestion and stomach problems. Eat raw right off the plant (grow your own if possible. Use it in smoothies and cooked meals.
Mint
